The Diary of a Wimpy Kid

The book titled The Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney is a realistic fiction novel about a boy named George who writes in his Journal about his life as a middle school student. He also writes about his family. The book is written like a middle school student would write. For example, Rowley and I; in the book it is written as me and Rowley. I like how the author write the book as if it is really written in a notebook. I would recommend this book to any child that attends middle school because it has some life experiences that any child could go through during that time in their life.

Whats Under the Bed

The book titled Whats Under the Bed by Joe Fenton is an excellent book to have in a preschool classroom. It is about a boy named Fred who has trouble sleeping at night because he hears strange noises coming from under his bed. The illustrations in the book are great. If the book was made into a movie it would be great in 3-D because the characters would come alive in a computer and on screen. However, the book is also educational it teaches children that is OK to be scared sometimes; and it is OK to discuss what is bothering you with someone you know. I would recommend this book to any preschool teacher and to every parent who has a 3 or 4 year old child who loves to draw and look at pictures.

Hatchet

The book titled Hatchet by: Gary Paulsen is a realistic fiction about survival. A thirteen year old boy is on his way to see his father when his plane crashes and he is left with nothing except a hatchet that his mother gave him before he left. Throughout the story the boy learns how to survive in wild for almost a month and a half. I would recommend this book for children ages 12 and up because it is one of those books that you can not put down because you want to know what happens next.

Big Words For Little People

The book titled Big Words For Little People is very fun to read. However, it is very educational it teaches children how to say and use big words in an easy way. Also, the book uses words that we use in everyday life. The Author Jaime Lee Curtis uses a lot of language in this book which I think is great because it teaches children a very important skill needed in order to communicate. I would recommend this book for children ages 4 to 8 because it uses so many big words and allows the children to enhance their vocabulary skills.

Barack Obama: Son of Promise

The book Barack Obama: Son of Promise is about an African American mother telling the story of a very important man in politics today. Barack Obama is his name and the mother goes through his childhood and explains to her son ho diverse his family is. She explains how his mother is White and his Father is Black and how both his parents came from different cultural backgrounds. The mother also explains how throughout his childhood Barack would always question who and what he was. It was a very interesting story and really got me thinking how Barack Obama really wants to change the United States of America and make it a better place for every citizen. I would recommend this book for grade levels K-5 as an introduction to different cultures and important people in US history.
